STRONG MANUFACTURING WITH REAL STANDARDS

We should produce more of what we consume, especially essential goods like medicines, right here in the U.S. That means good jobs, strong labor and environmental standards, and supply chains that don’t collapse in a crisis. For the health, safety, economic health and security of our nation, we must make our medicine in our country again.

Pharmaceutical companies are manufacturing more drugs overseas in unsafe factories in China and India, leading to generic drugs that are polluted with dangerous substances making Americans sick while costing good American jobs. Meanwhile, our Congressman, Richard Neal, has voted for trade deals that encourage drug manufacturing overseas—no doubt influenced by the money he has taken from pharmaceutical companies, among the highest of any member of Congress.

We must also grow and produce our own food again. In the last two years, America has fallen into food insecurity and become a net food importer. As a farmer, Nadia Milleron is a leader in ensuring residents have access to healthy, locally grown food. In Congress, she will champion domestic farmers and food producers. She will work to strengthen the Clean Air and Water Act. And she will support legislation requiring retailers to inform customers of the country of origin for food products.
