Issues & Priorities
As an independent candidate, Nadia’s campaign focuses on you, not a party’s corporate donors. Her priorities: working people, holding corporations accountable, public investment, reshoring American manufacturing, housing you can afford, insurance companies out of healthcare, protecting human rights, responsive representation, and term limits.
Real Tax Relief for Working People
Keep more of what you earn. Nadia supports eliminating the federal income tax on earnings under $100,000, giving working people more money to keep up with rising costs.
- Lower costs and hold corporations accountable. She will fight price gouging, close corporate tax loopholes, and use that revenue to help lower costs for working people.
- Put taxpayer dollars to work here at home. Nadia will vote against sending taxpayer money to fund foreign wars. Every dollar spent on destruction is a dollar that could instead go toward housing, health care, and the future of our communities.
Protecting Social Security
Nadia understands the importance of Social Security for the more than 70 million people receiving benefits.
- She brought over 30 voters to Chuck Schumer’s office, then the Senate Majority Leader, to push him to bring the Social Security Fairness Act to a vote - while Richard Neal single-handedly blocked it.
- Nadia will continue to fight for Social Security and to bring benefits up to today’s standard of living.
End Abusive Corporate Control of Politics
Nadia supports keeping corporations out of the political process and establishing a federal charter for large corporations requiring transparency, accountability, and fair taxation.
- Corporations should not be able to purchase political influence or determine the rules under which they operate.
- Her campaign argues that Richard Neal has protected corporations from accountability while receiving extensive financial support from corporations and special interests.
Invest in Well Being, Not War
Nadia supports an economic job guarantee so that anyone who wants to work can earn a living wage doing work that benefits their community.
- Her campaign argues that continued warfare takes resources away from healthcare, housing, infrastructure, and strong communities while contributing to inflation and higher costs for working families.
- Public spending should reflect the principle that everyone deserves equal opportunity, equal rights, and a decent quality of life.
- The campaign criticizes Richard Neal for voting over many years to send billions of taxpayer dollars abroad while families in Western Massachusetts struggle with groceries, healthcare, and housing.
- The people of the 1st District, Nadia argues, deserve a representative whose loyalty is to them rather than defense contractors and corporate donors.
Bringing Manufacturing Home
Good Jobs, Close to Home. Nadia will work to rebuild American manufacturing with strong labor and environmental standards—and make more of the essential goods we rely on, including medicine, here at home.
- Make sure our communities benefit from trade. Richard Neal supported trade policies, including China’s entry into the World Trade Organization, that were followed by significant losses in U.S. manufacturing jobs.
- Make Western Massachusetts a hub for medical manufacturing. Nadia supports securing a Federal Medical Manufacturing Zone in the 1st District to produce generic drugs and essential hospital supplies, helping strengthen local manufacturing and reduce dangerous supply-chain shortages.
- Good jobs. Strong standards. Reliable supply chains. That means family-supporting jobs close to home, strong protections for workers and the environment, and supply chains that can withstand the next crisis.
- Her proposal would create local jobs while building supply chains that are more resilient during crises.
Housing Affordability
Nadia supports protecting Western Mass homes from corporate greed.
- We will lower living costs by capping runaway rents, banning corporate speculators from buying up local neighborhoods, and directing federal funding straight into community housing developments.
Insurance Companies Out of Healthcare
Nadia supports kicking corporate insurance out of healthcare.
- Our current healthcare model profits by denying you and your family essential care. By driving popular Healthcare for All legislation, we will drastically lower costs so that you get the medical treatment you pay for.
- Western Massachusetts is also facing a health care crisis of its own. Residents wait four months to a year just to see a doctor, even for urgent needs. Richard Neal helped create this shortage in 1997 by voting to permanently cap the number of physician residencies Medicare supports, and has done nothing to fix it since, despite chairing the committee with direct jurisdiction over health care. At the same time he has taken millions from the insurance and pharmaceutical industries and fought against expanding Medicare access for families who need it most.
- Nadia will work to bring more doctors and mental health professionals to the district, support expanded residency programs, and make health care affordable and accessible for every family in the 1st District.
Human Rights
Nadia supports ending the genocide in Palestine, and equal rights for all people.
- U.S. tax dollars are funding the destruction of Palestinian lives, and that is not only a moral failure but a strategic one. Destroying communities, killing families, and stripping people of everything breeds instability and blowback for generations. A foreign policy built on violence does not make us safer. Those dollars should be invested in the well-being of people here at home.
- As a Lebanese American who has been immersed in Middle East policy her entire life, Nadia understands the human cost of endless war in a way most politicians never will.
- Her daughter Samya’s last post before she died was “silence is complicity.” Her sons participated in flotillas bringing aid to Gaza and were imprisoned and physically abused by Israel.
- Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness is for all not for a select few rich or individuals in certain groups.
Representation That Works
As an Independent, Nadia will focus on representing the people and will be uniquely positioned to work with both parties to get things done.
- The two-party system is broken, and the American people are rightfully frustrated with politicians on both sides of the aisle for playing political games while everyday people suffer.
- As your congresswoman, I will set a standard for public service.
- I will work full time for my constituents. I will make my calendar public so you know exactly what I am doing and who I am meeting. I will even have an app available for 1st District residents so you can interact with me and my office to get any assistance or information you need.
Integrity & Term Limits
Nadia supports a pledge for 3 terms—not 17. Public service is, not a career.
- Seeing Richard Neal lose his way after being a career politician for 46 years, I will champion term limits for politicians and lead by example, serving no more than 6 years if elected.
- Running as an independent with a strict 3-term limit means I answer to you, not special interests or the status quo. I have pledged to stay responsive and deliver real results for our district.

CONGRESSIONAL RUN
2024 Campaign
Nadia ran for Congress in Massachusetts’ 1st Congressional District in 2024 and received approximately 37% of the vote against incumbent Richard Neal. An astonishing number for an Independent candidate running for the first time.
ILLINOIS ADVOCACY
Corporate Accountability
Nadia traveled to Boeing’s home state of Illinois and led advocacy that changed a state law protecting large corporations from certain forms of accountability. Because of her tireless work meeting with legislators and stakeholders, corporations can’t avoid responsibility for causing serious harm.
AVIATION SAFETY LAW
Federal Reform
Nadia led over 300 families to Washington, D.C. where she criss-crossed the halls of Congress to push for the unanimous passage of the bipartisan Aircraft Certification, Safety, and Accountability Act in 2020. The law established new requirements involving aircraft certification, oversight, compliance, and safety procedures within the U.S. aircraft and aerospace industries. As a result of this national legislation, thousands of people are safer.
TRAGEDY STRIKES
A Turning Point
Nadia’s daughter Samya was a passenger aboard a Boeing 737 MAX that crashed in Ethiopia, killing everyone aboard. Following this second deadly 737 MAX crash, Nadia spearheaded efforts to hold Boeing, the FAA, and other responsible parties accountable rather than accepting assurances that another crash could not happen.
FAMILY FARM
25 Years in Western Massachusetts
For approximately 25 years, Nadia has operated a farm in Sheffield with her husband, Michael. They have raised pigs, chickens, turkeys, and lambs and produced organic grain and dairy products. Nadia has invited school classes, after-school programs, and local residents to the farm to learn about sustainable food production and raising animals. The farm continues to provide locally grown food and produce to families in Western Massachusetts.
LEGAL CAREER
Advocacy Through Law
Nadia began her legal career helping children experiencing neglect and abuse, handling court-appointed cases and advocating for children involved in contested divorces, child-support cases, and criminal matters. She also represented people in a state mental hospital during probate court proceedings. As a volunteer attorney, she advocated for patients who had experienced dehumanizing conditions and violations of their legal rights.
MOVE TO SHEFFIELD
A Family Decision
When Nadia’s son developed cancer, the family moved to a farm in Sheffield in an effort to improve his quality of life. Tragically, her son died. The farm later became a way for the family to contribute to the community and teach children and residents about agriculture and life on a farm.
EDUCATION
College and Law School
Nadia earned her bachelor’s degree from Smith College in Northampton, MA. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Iowa College of Law.
EARLY LIFE
Family Roots
Nadia was born in California. Her mother was the first woman to receive tenure in the anthropology department at the University of California, Berkeley. Her uncle is consumer advocate Ralph Nader. Her family has roots in New England and Lebanon.
